Lounge access
Lounge access depends on the airport as well as the fare. British Airways says Club Europe includes lounges where available, and Virgin Atlantic lists Clubhouse access with Upper Class.
Up front on the long haul.
Business class sits above premium economy and, on airlines that have a first cabin, below first. Tell us the route and dates you have in mind and ask what is available, or see Business fares we have offered before.

On long haul flights, British Airways, Virgin Atlantic and Lufthansa all fit business class seats that turn into a flat bed. British Airways says the bed in its Club Suite is 198cm long, Virgin Atlantic gives up to 200cm in Upper Class, and Lufthansa says its long haul business seat becomes a bed of almost 2 metres.
Short haul is a different product. On British Airways Club Europe, and in Lufthansa business class on short and medium haul flights, the middle seat is kept free instead. A business fare to a European city and a business fare to Singapore can buy very different seats.
The seat can also change between aircraft on the same airline. Qatar Airways says its business cabin depends on the aircraft type, and Emirates says features may vary by route and aircraft. Look up the aircraft for your date before you book.
Lounge access depends on the airport as well as the fare. British Airways says Club Europe includes lounges where available, and Virgin Atlantic lists Clubhouse access with Upper Class.
British Airways allows 2 bags of up to 32kg each in business. Singapore Airlines gives business passengers 40kg where it uses a weight allowance, or 2 pieces of 32kg on flights to and from the USA and Canada. Lufthansa says it depends on the fare and the route.
For Club World, British Airways lists a dedicated check in desk at most airports, priority boarding, and Fast Track security at Heathrow, Gatwick and New York JFK. Virgin Atlantic lists dedicated check in and priority boarding for Upper Class.

Straight answers on one way fares, mixed cabins, beds, lounges and bags.
Yes, you can ask for one way business class flights. Do not assume a one way fare costs half the return, because no airline source checked for this page says so, and it is worth asking for both prices. Choose One way in Build your route, add your date and send it.
No airline page checked for this page promises it, so treat it as something to ask about. Mixed cabin trips do exist: Cathay Pacific has sold business class to Hong Kong with premium economy on the onward flight. Whether you can mix cabins depends on the airline, the route and the fare, so say which direction you want in which cabin.
No. Long haul business class flights on British Airways, Virgin Atlantic and Lufthansa have a seat that becomes a flat bed, but on shorter flights British Airways and Lufthansa keep the middle seat empty instead. Long haul seats also change with the aircraft, so check the aircraft for your date, and the seat map if the airline shows it.
It depends, so check. Virgin Atlantic includes Clubhouse access with Upper Class, while British Airways says Club Europe includes a lounge where available. Access can depend on the departure airport, the airline that operates the flight and the fare you buy. If the lounge matters to you, check it before you book, because some airports have no lounge at all.
It depends on the airline, the route and the fare. British Airways allows 2 bags of up to 32kg each, Virgin Atlantic allows 2 bags of 32kg in Upper Class, and Singapore Airlines allows 40kg where it uses a weight allowance. Check the allowance on your ticket before you pack.
